this was a surprisingly powerful moment for me.
a trip to the capital
yesterday dr j and i went to the state capitol in sacramento. i felt guilty since i didn’t stop and see family or friends, but this was a 1 day getaway for us it was more about escape.
we did a tour of the capitol, which was fun! i love california and have an almost unhealthy amount of pride in being from the golden state. seriously, i’m a northern california native before an american. (and other than my love of sauerkraut, i don’t think i have any other ethnicity.)
the highlight of the trip for me wasn’t the tour or hearing about the great hiram johnson, no it was capitol dawg, a hotdog place in midtown. their vegan dogs were tasty and they gave me a lot of sauerkraut. the best though, was that noxious green relish they had for dr j’s chicago dog. now, i hate pickle relish, especially the dyed green stuff they use in chicago, but dr j loves it and i love authenticity. he was a happy camper.
a man and his dog
this is my dad and my parents’ dog pippi, their furry daughter. she’s cute and you can just feel the love.
wandering oakland: working in the world
the other day i “worked from home”. actually, i went to a doctor’s appointment (allergies, not cancer, don’t worry.) and then worked on presentations for some upcoming conferences, and then walked over to mtc to meet with people for work. walking around oakland was lots of fun and i should do it more often.
