did you know that dr. frank, aka frank portman, wrote a new book? if you didn’t, you should check out andromeda klein. he had a book release party at cato’s this past week, which i streamed online with ustream. it was fun and packed and pretty great. i never saw so many people in cato’s at once.
now let’s look at my top 10 keyword searches for this month:

i’m surprised “erika hynes” is 2nd. numbers 1, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 10 are all the same theme and make me consider deleting that post. the others… odd, but whatever.
“erika hynes” was briefly in the top 10 in april, the month she passed away. i did post about her, and it’s sort of been weird how her memory and spirit seems to keep popping up. the release of andromeda klein has introduced erika to a whole new audience. (frank dedicated the book in her memory.) i wish everybody knew her and i wish she were here.

last week i dyed my hair blue for the footy season. (up the owls!) it looked ok!

then i played soccer in the sun on saturday and it faded. somebody in the bar afterwards asked why my hair was purple. purple? no man, it was blue!
then i flew kites yesterday and my hair is now like this:

yeah… it’s lavender. how lame is that? i’m not happy. stupid sun!

one of the great things about working at kalx is all the old stickers and fliers around the station to remind you of days gone by. now, i didn’t work at the station when a lot of them went up, like this smugglers sticker, but it makes me think of high school and all that stuff. last night when i was sequestered in a corner of the library working on a project, this smugglers sticker made me go to a happy place. sad, but true.

this weekend i went to see the friendly between fc barcelona and chivas guadalajara at candlestick park. this was my first time at the ’stick for something other than a giants game, which puts my last trip there at something like 15 years ago. traffic to the game was immensely bad. it took patrick and i two hours to get there! (i forgot how far candlestick is from the rest of the world. it’s not like the coliseum where you can just roll up.)
the match was fun. chivas played very aggressively and barca seemed to just be showing how fancy they are with minimal effort. i have to say, each time messi touched the balled it was breath taking. seriously. i stopped breathing. really though, the highlight for me was dani alves. i wish i could play like him.

my parent’s bought me this bike over the weekend for a grand graduation/birthday gift. i rode it to work. i love this thing. it reminds me of my bike in germany, only hopefully more reliable.
