give us your money

it’s the kalx fundraiser time again, and that’s time to give us your money. or at least, i’ll tell you that. man. i’m not liking all the people at the station. last night aaron and i hosted bitesize on kalx live, where we made a few bucks and talked about penises on air. the people around were okay, but some were annoying, like the guy we call korn. korn looks like he wants to be in korn, works for the sports department (obviously), and thinks he’s cool. can you blame him? he has the shittiest white-boy dreads i’ve ever seen. (and i’ve been in germany where 1/4 of the kids have ‘em!) he’s the type of guy who jumps in your conversation and totally kills it. take for instance last night, we were talking about sound engineering for kalx live:
aaron: engineering can suck because nobody recognisezes how important it is.
me: yeah, everybody remembers the host, nobody really remembers the engineer
korn: totally dude. engineering is boring. (stoner giggle)

he was engineering football. poor kid. football is the fastest way to not make any money during a fundraiser because it’s the fastest way to killing off your listening audience. it’s true. i feel bad for any dj who has to follow that because the first hour will be nonresponsive. kalx live has that to contend with a lot.

oh well. he was there tonight too, eating all the pizza and drinking all the mt. dew. last night everybody drank my dr pepper. fucking assholes!!! aaron brought me a 12 pack because i did him a favor. i let a few people have one, but not the enite fucking station! i expected to have some for tonight, but lame-asses, like korn, drank them all. tonight, martina’s man john brought me two 21oz (yes, 21oz!) dr peppers, and i put one in the fridge and announced, “drink my dr pepper like you fucks did last night, and i’ll shank you!” on girl got mad and tried to act like it was the station’s dr pepper. bullshit. it was mine. i hid it, i told people it was mine. she was just lazy and selfish and got mad because i told her talking to everybody on her cell phone is not what we meant by “phone duty” during the fundraiser. some people just suck no matter how you dice them.

i drank all my dr pepper, and i didn’t have to shank a soul.

this madness continues.

oh, and still haven’t started writing my thesis, but i have drunk a lot of dr pepper today. it’s like the old kendra’s coming home.

pasties and pasteries

right now i’m the only person in the its library. i’ve got glue on my fingers. figure that one out. i’m listening to the smugglers and the new pornographers really loud, as opposed to npr. i’m getting tired of the election. how sad is that? (note- four years ago i was praising the virtues of the new pornographers, and who listened to me? nobody. i know lots of people who jumped on their bandwagon after electric version. lame. oh well, i’m on the bo-sox bandwagon.)

yesterday in my history seminar, we were talking about dead frenchmen. the prof talked about how derrida (rip) was really “quite fashionable” for historians once, with the subtext that it was a sham. he then started talking about one “french philosopher who held office hours at espresso metro and san francisco bath houses.” i started laughing. i was apparently the only person to associate that statement with with foucault. this gives me hope that young people aren’t falling for him these days. i of course then thought of a story about foucault dr. frank told me when i was a freshman at cal. i guess back when he and dallas denery were going to school here, they saw a foucault talk at zellerbach. the next day (or later that afternoon), frank saw foucault get an eclair smashed into his chest and face, in a very slapstick moment. i can’t do this story justice, you need him to tell you. suffice to say, the only images i have of foucault are bath house orgies and getting a eclair smashed in his face.

jenn lamented that she never had to read foucault for class, that’s not a bad thing. i tried, really i did, but then i gave up. i confess, in part, because frank said it was for the best. i think he was right. and i’m not much of a fan of derrida either. deconstructionism has played itself out, and when left to amateurs (like college students) it’s just painfull. i can’t stand it anymore.

my aren’t i clever?

the sun is shining, bring me the hoes.

i

i just wrote “i little type. i had a migraine this afternoon, so i ditched class to come home and take my pills, nap, work on my paper, and get my records. erika dropped them by, and it made my headache melt away for a bit. sexy is damn good as are onion flavoured rings. joe won’t listen to the records i bought him, so i think i might have to. i mean, what’s the point of owning a record unless you listeni to it? i also must (shamedly) admit to buying my first op ivy record. who knew?!?!?!

that’s all i can think now. i need sleep. i need to not worry about things. and i need to get my groove back, like stella and that david spade talking llama.

doing it by rote…

i’m going insane. i really hate stack shifts. that is to say, somehow last week i mixed up the order of shelves of books. i think i just fixed it… 2 hours later! ugh. i’m not done though. i need to figure out what i’m going to do about the rest of it. talk about dull. oh well. i got me some bubble gum.

my thesis is going horribly. i’m so behind in the research and what i have found is utterly depressing. people are jerks.

joe got surround sound last week and hooked it up this weekend. he’s happy and i can’t stop watching mtv for the bass. how lame is that?

here’s to thee kendrak attack! here’s to me not doing my work!

ich hasse statistik

man. this is not my idea of a fun saturday night. i was going to kick it at kalx live, but i’m djing at 6am, so i’m staying home to study/prepare for the show. heino… welcome back to berkeley!

i’ve finally found some leads for my thesis. 160.000 more people voted for the npd in 2004 than in 1999. damn. that’s scary. gott sei dank! i found all the boring statistics about the election in sachsen that i need. the sad thing is, i hate analysing statistics. that’s not why i got into history. oh well. this is good work, i guess.

in search of a book

abc news did some “investigative reporting,” by discrediting the swift boat veterans for truth. hot damn!

the whole bill o’reily sex scandal is very amusing. i especially enjoy listening to the hosts of air america makes it even more amusing. they’re having a field day. and quite frankly, i never suspected o’reily was so damn kinky. i feel like a fool.

ok. on to the fun.

the passive nature of blogs

this is a meta blog. it’s as annoying as a movie about a movie or a book about a book, or perhaps a song about a song? anyhow, one thing that’s awesome about blogs and blog type things is that they’re passive annoyances. that is to say, people aren’t actively harrassed with them. as you are reading this, you must have clicked a link or something to get here. i didn’t force you. pestering email news letters… that’s another story. especially when i didn’t sign up for the list. come on people? get a blog!!! that’s the beauty. i can post as much crap as i want, and think loads of people may care when in reality, very few people do. i like not knowing who reads this aside from the handfull of people that tell me they do. i don’t know, i would hope that ms. manners would approve of a blog for consenting parties over unsolicited email bulitens.

on to the juicy stuff!!!!

frankenstein cries foul

sorry to get all political on yer asses…

but this talk of rumsfeld trying to act like the bush administration didn’t lie to the world when they said that there were ties between al-qaeda and iraq is laughable, but at the same time depressing. i know many people will still follow the bush party line, and many people don’t care. despite the fact that it’s becoming apparent that the administration made a mockery of this war, the american people want it to continue that way. hell, even letterman wants it that way.

at least the draft is being put to rest… for now.

if only the world didn’t suck so much

i just watched the american experience on kvie about rfk. man, did i start weeping. big fat tears. and i asked myself, why should i cry for him? i don’t cry for his brother. i think it’s this: robert kennedy went through a fundamental change from the 1960-1968, and became something that americans could unite behind. or so it seems. i’m starting to see the similarities between the 1968 presidential election and the 2004 election. problem is… kerry’s no kennedy, as much as ted kennedy tries to prove otherwise. oh well. here’s to the botox revolution.

my cousin and his friend came for the weekend. who knew 11 year old boys were so into cop killing. 11 year olds are all about making that gta.

vegan cheese that melts makes for a happy kendra.

i need more sleep.

and jenn coming over for corrie party is awesome. larry, you coming over next week?
